Growth Groups

Sundays are only a small part of the life of a church. Through the week groups meet to spend time together, read the Bible and pray. We have daytime groups and evening groups.

Whatever your age or stage of life there is likely a group for you.

What is a Growth Group?
Growth Groups are a way for members of the parish to develop faith and friendship in a more personal environment than Sunday services. Growth Groups serve as a support network and an important way for people to connect with each other. Growth Groups vary in format, time and focus, but all serve as an additional form of fellowship.

What happens at a Growth Group?
Growth Groups at GAC have different formats. All have a focus on a deeper understanding of God’s word and our on-going faith journey. Some groups meet during the day, others in the morning or evening, some meet for a meal and others meet online.

How do I join a Growth Group?
Members can join a Growth Group at any time. Whilst there is a focus on joining Growth Groups at the start of each year, there is a permanent opportunity to join Groups.

To join a Growth Group:

  • Contact the leader of a group; or
  • Contact one of the GAC Staff; or
  • Contact the Church Office (0401 854 626 in office hours – 9:30 am to 12:30 am, Mon to Thursday
    or email office@gungahlinanglican.org.au )

Can I start or lead a Growth Group?
GAG is always looking for people to form new Growth Groups. Much of the development and connection of Church involvement comes from groups that reflect our Church community. If you identify an opportunity to start a Group based on a particular time, location or format, we would love to help you establish a new Group. Just make contact with the minister for your congregation and let the church office know.

Prayer is the engine room of the church. ‘Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you’ (1 Peter 5:7)

Each Tuesday morning we hold a prayer meeting in the Training Room attached to the Church Office in Gungahlin. All are welcome to join us as we pray for the church, its mission, and one another.

Each Wednesday afternoon a group of pray-ers gathers together via Zoom to hold in prayer the work and ministry of Gungahlin Anglican Church. Participants pray from their homes or further afield. Involvement may be for the full hour (4.30 – 5.30 pm) or for a part of that time.

The prayer topics come from the staff team, link missionaries, parish small groups, ministries of parish members and our Diocesan leaders. We are blessed to see God at work through the many ministries of Gungahlin Anglican Church.

Contact the office for current details. Times and location may change.

There are many tasks that have to be performed in order to make a church welcoming and make worship joyful and uplifting. None of our activities would work without volunteers.

Jesus tells us to work together in faith and use the different gifts God has given each of us in the service of the Kingdom.

There are many ways you can volunteer. Go to the Volunteer expression of Interest form and discover your special talent and gifts of time to God’s challenge to ‘serve, not to be served’.
